Cartoonist, Chaucerian (Dr.!), pigeon enthusiast. Co-founder of @guildmedmak.bsky.social
a society for medievalist makers and creatives. Hi!
Pinned
Less than two weeks until @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social and I’ve spent the weeknd excitedly preparing! I’ll be at Table C12a in the Comixology Hall and also hosting a Saturday panel on comics and medieval texts (SWOON). I’ll have copies of a new book and some other fun stuff for you, so say hello!
So I have been listening to Suede since like 1995 but never seen them live. Turns out they are playing a TINY venue in Zurich in March and I nearly hyperventilated buying tickets. Interrupted my bath to place to order (serious business!!).

In our initial discussions about the Guild we thought we'd be doing well if we gathered a community of 20 medievalists in our first year. We now have over 100! None of it would have been possible without the outstanding @drlauravarnam.bsky.social and @hellomizk.bsky.social (whose comics are below).

Another super fun project I’ve contributed to this year is a French comics anthology by doctoral students who also make comics. It has been such a fun experience to contribute to the first volume and I have so many ideas for future editions! Get your copy here: fr.ulule.com/limposteur/

Thanks everyone! It took me over a year to write, but I think you and/or your kid(s) will have many laughs together.

"Write! The written letter endures!" Scribal wit at the start of financial records for London bridge in 1424. Cleverly, the scribe created the letter 'S' by folding a speech scroll, so the form of the letter conveys the meaning of the conventional proverb, "speech is fleeting but writing endures."
