Though the Duffer brothers love reading all the fan theories, they admit, “The vast majority of them are wrong.” Fans will have to keep watching to see how accurate their theories were (if at all), but there’s one theory the creators can set the record straight about ahead of season five: Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) won’t be coming back from the grave.
The beloved metalhead and leader of the Hellfire Club in season four, who ultimately sacrificed himself in the Upside Down to protect his friends, is “very much six feet under,” according to Ross.
But that doesn’t mean the Duffers didn’t get an absolute kick out of all the fan suggestions about how Eddie could potentially come back to life. “There was a lot of groundswell about Eddie coming back as a vampire, that one I saw over and over again. Love Joe and love the character of Eddie, but he is very much six feet under, so RIP,” Ross says.
