This week I learned a lot about recounts.

📖 read some legislation
🗣️ called some people
🤔found out stuff I didn’t need — like how to deal with a tie

Here’s the story: What to expect in Calgary as a recount request is underway: youtu.be/cL5F4nY73V0?...

My 2017 GIF …a Farkas “signature dance move” from election profile archives — who would’ve thought these would continue to be relevant? Not that blonde Metro reporter

Municipal election day crowdsource: what municipality did you vote in today and how long did you wait to vote?

I’m in SE Edmonton and have now waited one hour. The front of the line is close, though ….

Don’t forget to vote for school trustee(s).

Brussels sprouts for attention only. #yegvote

Thoughts waiting to vote:
- Am I going to be late for work?
- That lady is knitting while waiting
- That’s the third dog in here
- about 50 people fit in the gym

Annnnnd phew that’s done ✅
Took me at least 1 hr to cast my ballot

I keep hearing this claim: Political parties are new to municipal politics in Alberta.

But guess what? They actually have a long history in Calgary and Edmonton. Here’s what I found youtu.be/Fn9pqFBy8Is?...
This isn't the first time parties have entered municipal politics in Alberta

Public safety is a top election issue. But Calgary Police commission memo highlights a struggle to bring on new hires — something to keep in mind as voters track campaign promises

Sometimes the star of the story doesn’t quite translate in the final news segment. So, here’s a moment for the horse I met last week:

I took the survey but wonder: how will this be enforced and how much will it cost to do so? When the province instituted the Kananaskis Conservation pass it cost money to hire a company that would scan license plates for ticketing purposes
Alberta may require an annual pass for canoes, kayaks, jet skis and other watercraft. The government currently has an open survey to see what people think.

First the Fair Deal Panel, now this? Both launched in the shadow of separatist sentiment, acting as a sort-of dowsing rod to lead policy that govt believes will give the province more independence. So — what will Alberta gain from its latest town hall tour?

Will Alberta Next panel result in a plan, or just another outlet for frustration?

Re this: booked to work today and found that also people are passing when they barely have time to avoid oncoming traffic (which is a little spooky) but also I ran into someone I haven’t seen in a while and a group of runners ALSO had a meet cute similar at the same time…so balance?
