it's December 1st, so it's time for the end of year best-of posts, because music released in December isn't real

Thank you Shanna and the rest of Dave's family, Matt and all the artists on this, and most of all thank you Dave. It remains unsettling to be making and playing music and being around everyone in that world without your presence.

I am fully convinced about the utility of Git after years of being scared of it. I put the script I use live up in case anyone is curious.

new Rob Winstone heck yeah. "I dreamt we found a way" is one of my favorite ambient albums. so much calm. I'm cracking up at Bristol being described as "gritty".

love reading the bit about Ian Williams picking up an Akai Headrush to fill in for another guitarist and finding a whole new approach. same pedal as Tony from Chevreuil used stacked. without their playing i may not be doing ambient music, as i started coding loopers to do free-looped math rock.
Don Caballero fused post-hardcore and prog rock for indie's answer to jazz fusion. Here are some highlights from the Pittsburgh band's discography.

i contend that the united states health insurance system violates the first amendment by evoking the christian trinity in its division of the human into three parts (body, teeth, eyes)

Sunday, May 25th! Nutmeg at 1835 E Passyunk, Philly! do you like sound, instruments, seats, nonalcoholic drinks, a manageable amount of fairly introverted people? it's the low pass/tapeandcdrecords' ambient/avant garde open mic night. i will be contributing.

we lost a lot of convenience when we rejected the microcassette recorder. no setup, not even an on-off button, just a single press of record and it's working. i took one to a warehouse full of player pianos(/banjos/organs) today and it was a joy.

"Out of the Ash" by @heavycloud.bsky.social on Histamine Tapes achieves so much emotion with computer voices. This is one of the best records I've heard from my few years digging into ambient music. It needs more ears. histaminetapes.bandcamp.com/album/out-of...

this is a book i want to go back through again with a pencil and annotate "this has happened and it's fine" and "this is kinda happening but it techbros took it in a horrible direction" or "this wouldn't work the way you thought it would".
