if you want the CD i recommend also grabbing the Fis album, which i wish i had gotten years ago with Jebanasam's Continuum. both are brutal ambient recordings.

last.fm was in a different age of the internet. there was no pretense of paying artists with it and you used music you already had. it was just open data, which i can still see 15 years after last using it. i didn't even use the radio but got introduced to my first favorite bands through it.

I am grateful that you showed us all how to love and support each other. I am sorry that we could not give you what you needed to still be here. We love you, and in coming together may we all love each other a little more.

I have a comforting memory of sitting on the floor of basement shows and cafes, as close as I could get to your table while still being able to see the fairy lights and knobs, enveloped by your cloak of sound.

Trying to move it onto a Raspberry Pi 5, so it's easy to just start using and so I don't need to bring the laptop. Hitting annoying obstacles.

I really love looking at the earliest commercially available recorded and automatic music technologies - wax cylinders, music boxes, player pianos - and thinking how wild it must have been to newly be able to play music without seeing the performer. but at least with that there was once a performer.

definitely do change the password immediately, though the recommendations from NIST are no longer to do frequent password changes. all that really causes is people making minor variations that are easy to guess. see: cybersecuritynews.com/nist-rules-p...
