#HLM4 is tomorrow: a once-in-seven-years chance for the UK government (and all governments) to pin colours to the mast. #NCDs are a crisis in all countries, but receive nothing even close to the appropriate levels of attention and financing.

Time for action indeed.

A real pleasure to be involved with this article and the 'bootcamp' behind it - and great timing, given that #HLM4 on #NCDs is tomorrow...

Action on #NCDs isn't optional: it's essential, for health of both of individuals and of entire national economies.

Delighted to be at #NCDAF2025 as lead rapporteur. And this morning I get to listen (and not notetake!) to a session on creating a social movement on #obesity.

My direct appeal to @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social
& Keir_Starmer in the light of yesterday's vote on AD.

If they sincerely care about dying people, surely now they will publicly & urgently commit to properly funding our threadbare, neglected palliative care?

Making dying easier is not the solution when NHS, social and palliative care are simply not there for patients

Couldn’t agree more! Profligacy with fossil fuels in the Global North is leading to the greatest health crisis the world has ever seen. We need UK Gov to step up to cut emissions and to address funding gaps in low-income countries, where consequences of climate change are simply unaffordable.
Millions of people are suffering from a crisis they did not create. It’s time for the UK to step up and pay up.

Take action now by calling on the Government to urgently address funding gaps.

Good to hear from @emmaboyland.bsky.social on the effectiveness (or otherwise) of policy on #ultraprocessedfood (and good to see the Bluesky logo on the first slide!).

You can reformulate your way out of HFSS, but you *can’t* reformulate your way out of an #ultraprocessedfood. Wise words. #IBResearch

Fascinating conference on #UPFs - sorry not to be there in person. SO interesting what we don’t yet know and how researchers are unpicking this. #ultraprocessedfood #IBResearch

NO ONE, anywhere, should have to go through this - it is hard to imagine anything more terrifying. And yet palliative care is a phrase many people barely even know. www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

New figures from @cancerresearchuk.org reveal smoking could cause nearly 300,000 cancer cases by 2029. Tomorrow’s second reading of the Tobacco & Vapes Bill is a key moment for MPs to consider measures to protect future generations.

I’ve missed Twitter (as was) the last few months, not least because it was good at alerting me to stories like this. The Economist should be ashamed of itself for *ever* taking money from Big #Tobacco for anything, never mind an actual #cancer conference 🤯 #NCDs
