Bluesky “announced Friday that it will be blocking all IP addresses within Mississippi for the foreseeable future in response to a recent US Supreme Court decision that allows the state to enforce strict age verification for social media platforms.”

Wright Thompson, author of The Barn, is the keynote session at Possumtown Book Fest hosted by Friendly City Books. Check out this video that Hope Walz shared recently where Tim Walz mentions that it should be required reading!

You gotta respect Taylor Swift, a self-made Millennial gazillionaire, going on Jason and Travis’s podcast to drop an album when she could have started her own. lol

Compared with the curated, only partially self-disclosing pictures that are the mainstay of social media, Adrienne Salinger’s images of teens in their bedrooms, taken in the ’80s and ’90s, offer a sense of the perilousness of adolescence. See more: nyer.cm/9lpzQPW

I cannot stress enough how insane this is on a higher education level. The amount of editing, reorganizing, and renaming that took place over the past few months to appease this ban required hours of work (much of which I did not want to do 😩)

Nerdrotic is on a livestream insinuating that James Gunn is a communist who doesn’t celebrate the Fourth of July and can’t make Superman work.

I’m bookmarking this moment for when he’s proven wrong by @jamesgunn.bsky.social making an amazing film.

I love how James Gunn wrote a vast array of female characters who all had different personalities and skills. Like, of course, “Mutant Toes” would save the day 😭 #Superman

Mississippi has the most food deserts in America. There are two Dollar Generals and one combination Family Dollar Tree less than 5 minutes from me. Only one grocery store that has questionable fresh food.

It's very real.

I grew up in Mississippi. This is fact. I would add that it’s a sickness perpetuated by the powerful to build and take advantage of fear, growing up amid bigoted propaganda and desire to not believe one is not bottom of the barrel.

Real leaders would do the opposite to teach all can rise together.
It is undeniable that much of our political culture, especially among white people, is driven by a desire to harm people seen as less deserving of a good life.

And many white folks have calculated that harming those people is worth harming themselves in the process.

It supersedes self interest.
She’s right again, you know. She usually is.

The thing is Beyoncé has ties to the south where the “USA schtick” patriotism is on full display 24/7. Just a few days ago a country singer said she would never be country. Is this not implying the same thing? She’s allowed to reclaim what America means to her.

I want to write an essay for @ladieswhodesign.com where I talk about how completely unhinged the visuals in films are when it comes to male directors depicting women's desires and lusts.

Just found out Evangeline Walton wrote a psychologically rich, feminist, grimdark retelling of Welsh mythology decades before it was cool…and then got erased from fantasy canon.
