My latest: Everyone’s analysing #Mamdani. Simple: people power works.
“Westminster wants ‘authenticity’ — as long as it’s scripted.”
Authenticity > polish.
Community > consultants.
Conviction > caution.

As a former BEEB man myself I commend this excellent perspective on the #BBC and neutrality, I saw parts of it when I was there. - I have noticed some people see auntie with rose tinted glasses - you guys need to read this essay by @lewisgoodall.com open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

How the BBC kowtowed to Boris Johnson. Amazing that, even though we now know what a corrupt, mendacious, useless Prime Minister Johnson was, the BBC are kowtowing to him again

Political pressure or principle! I would say the former as under Davie much worse than when he would give in to Tory Pressure and how also he handled Lineker affair! #BBC #Trump

Seriously! One of the best episodes of @newsagents.bsky.social refreshing to hear what @lewisgoodall.com had rknsay and or was a clear disagreement on the issue of monarchy bit good to see we can have this debate!
"We breed this family to be our head of state and it screws them up time and time again. It is a litany of sadness and torment."

Can King Charles make the "brutal" changes needed to make sure the Royals survive?

I find this issue spot on - only today I told someone we talk more on gepolitics but not about the racial incident close to home, poverty and cost of living.

I do sense sometimes we are led astray - but more needs to be done to change things on ground.

Man with stubble, "Small boats arrivals are 37,000. There are over 4 million kids in child poverty. And 4.5 million who can't get a dentist appointment" #BBCQT

"We spend 90% of the media discourse on the 37,000. How much more could we achieve if we put that effort into the 4.5 million?"

The Dutch centrist party #D66 offered optimism over outrage a credible, pro-European alternative to polarised politics. Realism on migration, focus on innovation, and had a media-friendly leader who embraced new media as well. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We are appalled at the blatant racism faced by GP deputy leader @mothinali.bsky.social, and many others like him.

We must fight this rising hate together, and not let racism rule our streets.
A memorable night ruined by a racist thug.

I was invited to speak at the EuroAsia Curry Awards on Monday night, it should have been an exciting opportunity. But on my way there, outside Earl’s Court station, I was subjected to an Islamophobic hate crime. I have now reported it to the police

Absolutely sickening. A woman has been raped in my hometown of #Walsall in a racially aggravated attack. This is what happens when hate is normalised and minorities are dehumanised. Those who fuel division this is on you. #farright

Congratulations to Lucy Powell on being elected as deputy leader of the Labour Party

Powell: 87,407 (54%)
Phillipson: 73,536 (46%)

Only 161k voted (16%). Probably mainly a very low turnout among union affiliates; I would guess > 50% among actual members

Finally, it took me a while, but today I was getting frustrated with the posts which I don't want to see but were being forced on my timeline - X is a cesspit, and even for mental health, just seeing these posts of hate is too much.

Bye Bye and I hope a day comes when sanity returns

Refreshing to see an article on the concerns of working class Muslims and socio-economic issues. The same is in the UK, however, narratives are all about identity, when in fact issues like rent, jobs, safety and community are on their minds. But the #rightwing make people think otherwise!

This is such a fad Labour response. It feels like their press office is still under induction!

12 hours later and that was their response to Katie Lam, at least @zackpolanski.bsky.social answered the question head on
Labour spokesman

“The Tories want to retrospectively change the rules to deport people who have been in this country and contributed to our society for decades. They would separate British children from their parents and expel doctors and nurses who have been serving patients in the NHS for years."
Worth saying that despite asking for more than 12 hours we’ve had nothing back from Labour on this

What I don't understand is this hasn't been picked up media - irony is she is a descendent of migrants as her heritage is a blend of Dutch Jewish and German ancestry.

At least @mrjamesob.bsky.social covered her comments and broke it down.
