Finally heard back from the vet about Missy. She is starting to have signs of kidney failure. Not surprising - she will be 14 in Feb & it's not uncommon in elderly cats. We will start transitioning her to a kidney-friendly food, hope she maintains her weight & go from there

Took Missy back to the vet today for her follow-up. They drew blood & said I could wait there for an hour for the results, or go home & they'd call me. I opted to take her home.
They never called.
I'm hoping that means there was nothing bad😞

What do you think: we have a full bath upstairs & a half bath downstairs. No way to convert the half to full without losing the coat closet. We're considering pulling out the tub upstairs to put in a walk-in shower w/ shower seat. We don't take baths. Does that make the house unsellable?

I'm old enough to remember when retailers jacked prices up during the pandemic, blaming shutdowns, but never lowered them when the shutdowns were lifted. I'm cynical enough to believe that removing tariffs isn't going to lower the prices that were raised because of them.

Searching for a recipe: my late mother's friend used to make what she called an apricot log. It was a pastry of some type, filled w/ chopped apricots, pecans, and maybe coconut. Rolled into a log about 12" long, maybe 2" wide, top slit, pecan halves between the slits, some kind of glaze.

Missy will only eat a tiny bit at a time, which isn't terribly unusual, except that she no longer munches her dry food throughout the night, so I'm getting up every couple hours all night to put fresh food in her bowl. If that's what it takes to keep her going, I can do it. But I'm tired. Goodnight!

Dumbass. Part of the whole AFFORDABLE Care Act thing was that those high risk pools were so expensive, hardly anybody could buy into them. That's why people went without insurance. And died as a result.

I was up before 9:30 this morning. I have rarely gotten up before 10 since I retired, and then usually only for an appointment & w/ an alarm set. But to spontaneously wake up at 9 and not be able to go back to sleep? Unheard of!
I'm a night owl. I always hated working mornings. Preferred late shift.
