I know this is important news etc. but how did I live for nearly five decades without realizing y'all call yourselves Memphians

I would have thought Memphisissians or something 🤔 😅

Yes but they are playing checkers not chess

The thing that struck me most in that moment was feeling that both Obama and McCain were decent people, but Obama would gain voters for it and McCain would lose them

The Met Cloisters doesn't have any control over anything past their doorstep; they can't force the NYC parks or transportation people to fix the signage or improve accessibility. Just getting Google Maps to promote 190th Street would help so much!

The most immediate solution is to tell Google Maps that people need to get off the A train at 190th Street. From there it's a free transfer to the M4 or a very nice walk through a park. Not totally flat but pleasant and manageable hills for most folks. The hike from Dyckman is not easy!!

The nice thing about geriatric pregnancy is I can pretend having a 3 year old makes me 30ish 😂😂😂

Oh friend. It's my 25th in Wmstn this year and I feel vaguely offended by that fact 😆

I think this is it. Liam has got to be pretty shaken and not in a mental state for this, right? But another little boy with some similarities gets everyone to remember what we're up against

I mean, Conejo for Bad Bunny himself also makes sense

Basically Byzantium, or the Ottoman Empire, more or less.

There was some interview years ago, sometime after Celebrity Apprentice but before 2016, when he says that he and Melania are extremely compatible and will always get along. Something about that has always given me the creeps. (Who was it who compared her to a cheetah owned by an oligarch?)

Honestly yeah, it's weird how much he reminds me of Scarface or something by Scorsese

I mean, in many ways I tend to agree, but have enough barely functioning bipolar types in my close circle that I just don't judge unless you are living in my house and/or using my credit card. Otherwise, I just sort of worry about the kids these days 😳
February 2, 2026 at 6:20 PM
Yeah, I think we're in agreement. I'm just reflecting on the thread. It's generally hard to express a wish that we could "do better" on social media without wading into arguments about privilege. Still I wish "regulated online businesses + affordable housing + basic home ec classes" all existed.

I think the feeling was people are being shamed for using Door Dash, and ultimately "you gotta do what you gotta do"; I don't meant to sound judgy. But people are being lured into overspending by glitzy apps and it's problematic -- similar to gambling debt, which has exploded because it's so easy.

I also lived in some pretty basic places in my 20s, but at the bare minimum there was a sink, a hot plate, a few pots and pans. I am not saying everyone can whip up a Thanksgiving dinner on a Tuesday, just that when I was broke the answer was "hey I can add frozen peas to Top Ramen" and it was fine
February 2, 2026 at 5:33 AM
Sure, but that's a pretty big leap from door dash all the way to these ultra basic recipes. There's a lot of middle ground in there (and tons of online videos about how to make easy soups or chicken casserole or whatever)
February 2, 2026 at 2:38 AM
This might be sort of true if you are including frozen and/or other prepared meals as groceries? But if we are talking simple ingredients that you take home and cook, then no.
February 2, 2026 at 2:05 AM
That's exactly where my mind went too. So profoundly sad.

I love this but also feel compelled to note that ICE comes with guns not sticks 😒

But also a sign that it's about more than money; he was far outspent, but there comes a point when the actual policies matter. I mean yes, campaign funding is important, but so is the message itself, as in "vote for the party that won't shoot you in the back of the head at point blank range"
February 1, 2026 at 3:37 PM
And also a sign that free and fair US elections ARE happening in 2026, and that hope is not lost!
