It’s very weird seeing my face when scrolling through Bluesky… (also this, like many things, is awful.)
Rural hospitals across the U.S. say they're already being forced to consider tough choices — like cutting services for children or cancer patients — after Trump signed into law the GOP tax bill that included sweeping cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.

If enacted, the MAGA Murder Budget would slash roughly $1 trillion combined from Medicaid and SNAP, stripping health coverage and food from families to help fund trillions of dollars in tax cuts that would disproportionately benefit the wealthiest: www.commondreams.org/news/republi...
'Call This What It Is—Theft': Republicans Approve Largest Medicaid, SNAP Cuts in US History | Common Dreams
"The people stealing from Americans are not folks with tattoos and hoodies—it's people wearing suits and ties and congressional pins, sitting in this Capitol right now," said Rep. Maxwell Frost.

In the budget reconciliation bill, House Republicans are trying to cut SNAP by $295 billion. This would cut it in third in what would be by far the largest SNAP cut in history.

This would rip food assistance away from millions of people, including households with children as young as 7 years old.

I interned at HRSA for two summers (and almost worked there until the Trump I hiring freeze). I’m heartbroken for the good people that work there, and our country.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is being decimated right now. Mass layoffs happening across agencies (NIH, FDA, CDC etc).

Some employees found out by security badge being denied. Others got email.

Too many Democrats spent a good part of last year demonizing campus protesters, refusing to acknowledge Palestinians as humans, and painting people who want an end to Israel's genocidal actions as terrorists.

Trump is pouring on the gas, but Dems lit the match and threw in some logs.
The lawlessness, incompetence and brutality are accelerating as the Republic tips toward dictatorship.

Senate Democrats, under Schumer's leadership, are useless and essentially collaborators. Democratic governors need to get straight on what the plan is.
NEW—After a day of uncertainty on where agents took Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, she appears to be in a Louisiana facility.

1400+ miles from Somerville, Massachusetts, where she was taken.

A judge ordered to not take her out of state without 48 hour notice. She was detained last night.

How Congress Could Force $1.1 Billion in Cuts on Washington, D.C.
District leaders say that a proposed cut to the city budget, part of a plan to avert a federal government shutdown, is unfair. The city raises most of its own money but cannot control how it is spent.

It is honestly wild to me that Republicans cooked up a bill that would prohibit D.C. from spending more than $1 billion of its own budget, devastating our city services out of pure spite, *and Senate Democrats might actually vote for it.* Utterly appalling. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
House spending bill would lead to $1B in D.C. cuts. Here’s what that means.
The bill, also known as a continuing resolution, now moves to the Senate, where D.C. officials hope Democrats will help them defeat the measure.

Republicans want one thing and it’s fucking disgusting (tax cuts for the rich funded by healthcare cuts for the poor)
BREAKING: House Republicans just passed their budget resolution 217-215 that would virtually guarantee deep cuts to Medicaid and food stamps, all to fund a major tax break for the ultrawealthy... and still add trillions to the national debt.
