Occasionally correct opinions on Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, soccer, baseball, art, literature, and politics.
The right move. I do have sympathy for fans who attend matches and will miss having a beer on a beautiful summer night. But genuinely, no reasonable person/casual fan is giving up a beautiful summer Saturday evening to stay home and watch a sub-par league on television.
BREAKING NEWS: MLS owners have officially voted to flip to a fall-to-spring season, aligning with top leagues around the world, per @paultenorio.bsky.social.

The league will begin play in the new format in 2027.

Obviously more important things in the world, but the Apple TV deal for MLS was so goddamn stupid. At a time when the the league was been primed for real growth they made themselves essentially invisible. They lost fans due to the double paywall and they don't deserve them back. Dogshit league.
BREAKING: MLS will come out from behind the separate MLS Season Pass subscription beginning in 2026, per sources.

All games will be available on the Apple TV streaming service.

Nancy is correct on this.
Wilfried Nancy on potential calendar flip:

“If they don’t do it, there is no logical thought behind the desire of MLS to become a really good league. Simple as that.

If you don’t make the change, you can talk & talk, but it’s impossible people overseas will take us seriously."
Sources: MLS owners are expected to vote on flipping to fall-spring calendar at Thursday's BOG meeting. Could happen as soon as 2027.

Also: Changes to competition format expected too, including single league table + divisions.

Imagine trying to convince someone a decade ago that this sentence would be a 100% literally accurate description of the American political situation.
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

I just finished this book a week ago, not knowing it was being made into a film. I will absolutely find a way to see this in the theater.
TRAIN DREAMS is out in limited theatrical release today. It will be on Netflix in a couple of weeks, but here's the thing: If you are at all able to, you really should see it on a big screen. You will not regret it.

Netflix is releasing one of the best films of the year but please, for the love of God, don’t watch this masterpiece on your phone.

Dem gains in this week's elections erased the inroads Trump made with non-white, young, and low-income voters in 2024. In fact, the R-to-D shift from 24 to 25 is double Trump's gains from 20-24. Claims of a GOP political realignment have been highly exaggerated

Ajax sacking Heitinga was the right decision. Some fall off from last season could be expected, but this has been dramatic. Unfortunately, I have no idea where they go from here.
