Support indie bookstores.
Remember the other day when I was saluting my friend Greg Ketter, owner of Minneapolis’ DreamHaven Books? This is him the following day. Greg will never say this, so I will — now is a great time to buy books from DreamHaven. Support Americans who stand up vs. 🧊. dreamhavenbooks.com

Still raising money for ex-wife, for a medical emergency. She’s $300 away from what’s needed URGENTLY. Everything else can sit a while. Dropping payment apps in the comments. If you contribute, you can DM a book you want me to read/review or bookish discourse you want me to weigh in on!

I remember when a writing teacher asked us to raise our hand if we've made more than $5 from our writing. Three of us did.

We were told that's enough to put us in the top 1% of most successful writers through history. A little hyperbole, but not far off. I still think about it.

This week's bookstore is one of my personal favorites, and they stand firm in the fight against fascism. It's Felixology in Maynard, MA! It's a gorgeous space that's always finding more ways to support good causes and the local community.

The world is on fire but there are still good books coming out. A Fortnight to Forever publishes tomorrow and I'm already excited to read it for the 3rd time. It's like The Swan Princess meets The Princess Bride!

This week's bookstore is Federal St Books in Greenfield, MA. I loved seeing all the skeletons hiding in the decor; it made me feel right at home! It made all the books in the store look like they belong in my TBR pile.

Ebooks are reading.

Audiobooks are reading.

Graphic novels are reading.

Pulp reading is reading.

Adults reading YA is reading.

It's all good, my friends. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Yearly reminder that you CAN just become a different person, you're not as imprisoned in your life as you think. You can just be the one who dresses nice or exercises or reads a lot, or whatever. You can just start doing it, some people might make fun of you but they don't really care.

I've read 131 books this year excluding kids books (1-3 every bedtime). I may finish more before 2025 ends, but here's the breakdown:

• 42 physical books
• 33 eBooks
• 51 audiobooks
• 40 ARCs (inc prior releases in the series)
• 5 Beta reads (+2 short stories, with 2 more beta books in progress)

Bookstore of the week is one I've been really excited for: the Montague Bookmill in Montague, MA. It's a secondhand store housed within a gorgeous old mill building that's been standing since 1847. There's also a great cafe!
