In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Epic and Lovely is not getting reviewed.

If you feel like doing me a big favor, I'm now in the position of begging for Amazon reviews.

If you want to support small press fiction, me personally, oddly-shaped people, or survivors of abuse, please tell someone, or Amazon, about the book.

F the NYT for giving them air, and F anyone who thinks the way out if this mess is to get “more moderate” on social issues. Address the real issues of wealth disparity, health care, and jobs and stand firm on social issues without giving MAGA air.

Hate speech isn't political discourse, nor is it protected, for that matter.

I hesitated to use a paper towel this morning, and it made me think that the scarcity mentality drilled into the Left is probably a big factor in the Right’s rejection of progressive policies. Is there any way we can reframe conservation so it doesn’t feel like flagellation?

I recorded a narrator named Erik Bauersfeld for years for audio tours before learning that he was the voice of Admiral Akbar.

As a regular defender of the press, I'm truly gobsmacked by the lack of coverage of Trump's disappearance. Are the editors and owners just proactively capitulating out of fear? Are they operating on an old fashioned idea of decorum? How are we not getting coverage of the disappearance and coverup?

Completed my Denis Villeneuve scorecard with his film Polytechnique, a reinactment/dramatization of a school shooting in Montreal. It is stark, heartbreaking, and visceral. I wish he wasn’t mired in Dune.

I saw somewhere that it would only take 130,000 progressives to move to Wyoming to swing the balance of the national elections. Highly mobile Gen Z activists, make it happen!

Jillian Michaels is doing what MAGA does: act like they are victims of an oppressive agenda where white people are forced to feel bad about themselves. Understanding the past, reconciling wrongs, and uplifting others makes us all better people and a better country. Don’t “not all whites” me.

I heard from a local movie theater owner that the distributors force them to carry all their films or they’ll be cut off, which is how we end up with the big blockbusters in every theater. It’s absurd, because no one wants to see the big action flicks on a tiny arthouse screen.

I know the outrages pile up, but this kind of outrageous lawlessness sticks in my craw. Govt. agencies CANNOT be allowed to loot and pillage. Govt agencies CANNOT detain people purely for their ethnicity. This must stop.
What happens if you don’t do background checks or training for thousands of people and you give them all total authority?

ICE has been caught looting and destroying property at Pittsburgh restaurants. They even tried to break into the safes. They loaded food, supplies and equipment into vehicles

Portland "moderates" love to complain that if we increase any taxes to pay for quality-of-life programs like Preschool for All, housing the homeless, and maintaining our parks, that the rich people will flee. The data disagrees. Thanks Commissioner Moyer!

I’m boycotting Amazon as much as possible, but had to order some things I can’t find anywhere else. It always strikes me how the shipping is like a hostage situation - you can pay a fee for exploitative labor to rush it, or they will hold your package for a few days as punishment.

It's just enormously important to understand that the goal of this tariff policy isn't to raise money or to increase manufacturing in the United States. The goal is to make some of the nation's largest companies subject to Trump's personal discretion and dependent on his favor.

There seems to be a deliberate shut-out of coverage of Buy Nothing Day. Only headline I've found completely misunderstands the message and says it is a protest against high prices. Anyone seeing anything?
