The Zork games have been properly open sourced with the MIT license 😍 opensource.microsoft.com/blog/2025/11...

These were some of the first computer games I ever played back on our IBM 8086 PC. So many good memories.
Preserving code that shaped generations: Zork I, II, and III go Open Source
Microsoft’s Open Source Programs Office (OSPO), Team Xbox, and Activision are making Zork I, Zork II, and Zork III available under the MIT License.

Governments and voters are both reacting to algorithm-shaped “public opinion,” not grounded priorities. Immigration feels urgent because platforms amplify fear, pulling parties into hollow performances of toughness. The far right reads that drift as confirmation it’s winning.
Not everyone is unhappy about the Government's descent into anti-refugee politics

😯 We did it again - we made the @github.com Octoverse report as a top open source project on GitHub! 🥳

We can't understate it: it's because of the community that we accomplished this. Thousands of you contributed to this achievement - here's to you! #OpenSource🍻

More e-ink nerd stuff! A while back I was experimenting with dithering with realistic e-ink colors as opposed to the primary color palette. Lotsa manual Photoshop stuff.

Turns out the guys at Paperlesspaper have made an open source library to do exactly that!

My e-ink addiction continues. After playing with Waveshare’s Photopainter panel, which has no wifi but only a microSD, I was excited to try this Seeed Reterminal 1002 frame. Same Spectra6 color e-ink panel but with an ESP32-S3 on the inside, so it has wifi and can run ESPHome!

once again thinking about how overwatch excelled at building a player base that brought in non-traditional FPS genre players into the game (ie, cis women) through its innovative deprioritization of sheer mechanical skill and emphasis on strong character designs but then blizzard management choked it

One of the great things about working at an open source organization is that everyone here likes to experiment and build cool stuff on top of our products.

Case in point? Connect ZWA-2 was launched just 2 months ago… and now there’s a new experiment for you:

Connect ZWA-2 anywhere: Use Z-Wave over Wi-Fi or PoE
Introducing Portable Z-Wave, an experimental firmware that lets you use Z-Wave over the built-in Wi-Fi or even add PoE.

These watches appear to be ripoffs of famous designs. Likely from some factory that normally produces "homage" watches and they just swapped out the branding.

Discovered our HEMA (Dutch department store) sells rechargeable LED tealights that you can turn on and off using a simple remote control.

Used my Harmony hub to learn the remote’s IR codes, now I can control them in Home Assistant and I have smart(ish) tealights 😄
