A whole bunch of people are about to learn the words “Posse Comitatus” for the first time and while I’d love to say I’m here for it, holy shit, man.

The discourse here is cursed because people are only able to see AI through an ideological lens. For example, if you acknowledge a use case for LLM's, you are validating AI bros, so you have to deny that use cases exist. The definitions don't matter because it's not actually about the AI.

That’s a bonkers number
Khan won 50.4 per cent of the available points.

Wally Daudrich won 49.6 per cent.

Really happy to see folks out and voting yesterday!

In hindsight though, maybe putting the first day of advance voting on a stat holiday wasn’t ideal from a confluence of people excited/impatient to get out to vote day 1, combined with “literally everyone’s off work” poll place lineups perspective.

Alien life? Planet K2-18b has dimethyl sulfide in its atmsophere. On Earth that comes from marine microorganisms. Not proof, but as Spock would say, fascinating.

The Venn diagram of people who are in the threads about this story who were outraged at Rachel Gilmore’s silencing but who also can’t understand that CBC’s senior Parliamentary Bureau reporter knows every staffer from every party in an Ottawa politico bar as though that isn’t her job is bonkers
Wow this is a super fucking gross move

And then they talked about it within earshot of a press gallery journalist?!? Dumb as hell

You’re so far ahead!! Why go so slow!! It’s just icky

This whole thread is great, if societally sad. A must read.
The morning after the election, I had a panicked thought: “My threat model is wrong.”

I’d been giving privacy advice for years, but my counsel would not protect against an authoritarian president seeking revenge against political enemies.

Tyranny was going to require a new threat model.

Big Oil is using the #TariffWar to push for the elimination of virtually all environmental oversight & regulation.

This is a largely American-owned industry. This would make Canada MORE vulnerable to the US, not less.

How very #MapleMAGA of him.

Pierre Poilievre is Big Oil’s useful idiot
With an inner circle stacked with fossil fuel lobbyists, it’s no wonder that Pierre Poilievre voted against the environment 400 times.

It’s one of the most interesting things in Canadian politics. They lost 2021 by going too centre (or at least not overtly right) for their SoCon base and will lose 2025 by being too Trump. The wilder the right gets the less likely we’ll see a Con govt when ballots actually get counted going forward
