Santa Cruz Warriors fall to Salt Lake City Stars for their first-ever 0-3 start to a season.

A very depleted and young team (8/10 players from the recent draft class) has struggled to find any sort of consistency on both ends and the shots have not been falling.

As of today, the cost of Seth Curry's one-year minimum salary has prorated down to an amount that now fits into the Warriors' remaining space below the 2nd Apron hard cap, allowing them to sign him.

However, the longer they wait, the more flexibility they'll have for the season.

LJ Cryer tonight in his first Santa Cruz Warriors game:

25pts
7 assists
4 rebounds
1 steal
8/17 FG
6/12 3PT

Santa Cruz Warriors drop their season opener 107-120 to the Rip City Remix.

An improved 2nd half could not make up for the ground they lost to the Remix in the first and proved insurmountable.

LJ Cryer led the way with 25pts. Trey Galloway led the comeback effort with 15pts.

Much better 3rd quarter from Santa Cruz. Showing some fight defensively and getting more paint touches on the other end. Still find themselves down 74-94 to a relentless Rip City, but the bench is giving them some good run to try to turn things around.
Santa Cruz down 48-70 at the half. Rip City has gotten whatever they wanted.

SCW shooting 38.3% from the floor and 23.8% from 3. Gotten some good bench minutes from Jack Clark, Ja'Vier Francis, and Michael O'Connell, but they have to find a rhythm as a team. Ball is not moving.

Michael O’Connell, bleeding out of one eye after being whacked in the face earlier, has sparked a Santa Cruz comeback late in the 3rd quarter, cutting the deficit down to 11.

O’Connell has 8pts on 4/5 FG off the bench.

Ugly start to the game for Santa Cruz. Down 10-24 to Rip City halfway through the game. Inexperience of the squad is showing. Struggling to find any cohesion offensively, ball sticking too much.

Former Sea Dub, Blake Hinson, already has 13pts on a perfect 5/5 FG against them.

With G League affiliate spots having been increased to 5, effective immediately, it would be prudent for the Warriors to take advantage of it with a sign-and-waive by Saturday.

Their 4/5 affiliates so far:
LJ Cryer
Chance McMillian
Jacksen Moni
Ja'Vier Francis
The G League & NGBPU announced a new CBA yesterday through 2028-29.

Warriors' unrestricted free agent, Kevin Knox II, lands in Chicago on an Exhibit 10 deal.

The Santa Cruz Warriors retain his G League rights, so they'll get some draft capital pursuant to a trade with Windy City. Already turned departing Blake Hinson and Yuri Collins into picks.
The Chicago Bulls and Kevin Knox have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshypeofficial.bsky.social. Knox has averaged 7.3 points in seven NBA seasons combined with the Knicks, Hawks, Pistons, Trail Blazers, and Warriors.

The Warriors have a two-way qualifying offer out to him and will maintain his RFA rights. Same situation as Nico Mannion.

Feel free to drop any Qs for us below regarding likely rotations, Kuminga’s future, Santa Cruz roster building, or anything else!

A look at the different Kuminga frameworks reported over the summer.

Compared to the Warriors' initial 2yr/$45M offer, Kuminga eventually signed for $1.7M more ($800k of which guaranteed) plus a 15% trade kicker, that if traded, could net him about $1.3M-1.7M more.
