I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I'm feeling so sad for our country. I remember when I voted for #Obama and how excited and hopeful I felt. I just started graduate school in January, and was looking forward to my life as a #scientist in progressive #USA. We got #Obamacare. Not perfect, but huge step for healthcare. 1/

Have you ever taken antibiotics for a bacterial infection? Yay they work! Except resistance is growing & we urgently need new ones. Axing grants awarded to outstanding scientists studying a massive & neglected public health threat serves no purpose but to at prop up fascism at America’s expense.
Yesterday, the NIH R35 “Outstanding Investigator” grant to fund scientists in my lab studying antibiotic resistance was terminated for reasons not related to the content of the science, or any actions taken by me or members of my lab

If they rescind habeas corpus, it won’t be just for immigrants. It will be suspended for anyone who speaks up when we see people shoved into unmarked cars by masked men without badges.
