I saw an early screening of Nosferatu last night with an Academy voter. It reminded me of my experience watching Nightmare Alley by del Toro. Gorgeous, disturbing visuals. Not the type of film I seek out but it will stick with me for a long time.

For a month, I went to the same gym as the actor who played Toby from “The Office”. Our workout schedules were aligned and I just couldn’t focus on my workout when I looked over and saw Toby on his Leg Day. I kept looking in the mirror at myself and making smirks like I was Jim in a reboot.
I could really imagine going to the same gym as Stanley Tucci

Photos from my storytelling show last night. A year ago, I had a premonition that I would turn this true story about my Dad making a Deal to come back to life during a Near Death experience, into a short animated film and it would go on to win an Oscar. I can feel the string pulling me to that.

I was directing an Improv to Sketch class Sunday night. Most of the students are newer to comedy/performing. They don’t know their comedic voice yet. I asked them questions about what they like, what they do for fun, etc. Then I gave them the Who, What, Where of a scene based on their answers…

I always preach that every piece of art has a hole at the middle that the artist doesn’t know about until they share the art with others. It’s our job as the teacher/critic to point the artist towards that question they didn’t know they were answering so they can fully actualize through the art.
Another shorter TV writing thread.
Every show has a dramatic question that holds it together, that every episode attempts to answer. What do we lose when we try and sell everything? Can we run away from our trauma? What would you do to save your family? Is friendship more important than romance?

I was 12 and full-on obsessed with comics in 1992. At the time, it felt like my Dad was relatively indifferent to my hobby. But on the day Superman 75 came out, he was waiting for me at the bus stop in his pick up truck and drove us four towns over to buy the issue at a comic shop. A special moment.

#scriptsky Who is writing elevated #horror with a heavy splash of #comedy? This is my first time adding a horror/slasher element to a script.
#WIP In 2002, a college rugby team of rowdy, man-children piss off a witchy cult of sorority girls in Savannah, GA. The party weekend turns the women to the hunters, & the men to the prey. A subversion of the helpless sorority girl slasher trope, giving the women the power in a post 9/11 America.
