I think this is absolutely useful for 3D printing but we should also improve our design to reduce variations. Yes this is possible given the current cost of DIY machines; some parts of the printer would become cheaper, while others would become more expensive. ⤵️

Inspired by Prusa's new license "for the maker community", OCL, I'm introducing it's long-awaited sequel, SOCL!

Like Hollow Knight Silksong, it promises to be an improvement over its prequel in every way.

Looking forward to community adoption and feedback!

Gears 😍
Gift Box #1 and #7 had a baby and it may not only be the most complex mechanism I put in a gift box yet, but its probably the hardest one to solve. There is also the most satisfying snap.

Printed in @zombiehedgehog.com amazing @polymaker.bsky.social PLA.

If you fancy a gear box on the back of your presents, then Gift Box #23 might be the one for you! The center of the bow spins with the sun gear unlatching the top. The top prints in place, bows are printed separately for color.

It's true, PLA-CF is mostly useless, it's hard to find an advantage over regular PLA. "I built a thing" shows what happens in details with electron microscope and CT scanner as well as physical testing. Impressive images!

I really wish Prusa had tried to work with OSI, CC, and/or OSHWA instead of greenfielding a new license.

Even if the principle behind this license wasn't misguided, I don't think it's precise enough to legally accomplish any of the goals Prusa stated.

Please don't use this.
We're open-sourcing the full CAD files of the CORE One and CORE One L, released under a new license we built for the maker community. Read more about it in Josef's new article: blog.prusa3d.com/core-one-cad...

⚠️ FACT CHECKING : A licence with a non-commercial aspect cannot be considered as open source. Prusa is NOT open-sourcing the Core One. Prusa is misleading us once again.

Have you ever had a spool of PLA filament that snap in your hand like uncooked spaghetti? Or perhaps the filament broke inside the PTFE tube? Why does this happen, and how can it be avoided?

This is the internal design of the future E3D high speed nozzles, called the FUGE! Unlike the CHT ones, there is no more channelling. Instead, the filament core is warmed up by altering its path while maintaining the same surface area throughout. This is an application of the E3D patent from 2020.

You will obviously notice the close resemblance to Bambu printers. It seems that the enormous quantity of recent BambuLab patents doesn't affect the competition that much. It's not surprising as the patent system in China seems to have different goals; let's see how it evolves in the coming months.
AnyCubic has achieved an impressive level of integration with its Kobra X 3D printer. It doesn't require an AMS-like system; it can handle everything in the toolhead! It also features an automatic filament gears tensioning system. I want to see a teardown!
