Working on the cover for my upcoming "1st revised edition" and the audiobook I'm almost done recording.

Thoughts? I think it's pretty good progress for a DIY cover.

Seems folks are going to boycott the #Eurovision Song Contest because of Israel being allowed to compete. I get it.

25 nations boycotted the 1980 Olympics in Moscow over the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. And that solved the problem. The Russians left... [checks notes]... 9 years later.

I've recorded 31 out of 40 chapters for the audiobook version of _Hell on $5 A Day_. I still like the professional sound I get from converting them to a different voice with @elevenlabs-io.bsky.social, but now that @dhlawrencexvii.bsky.social put it in my head, I'm finding charm in the originals.

The White House is trying to kneecap Netflix In the bidding for Warner Bros. By making noises about antitrust concerns. Could it be because David Ellison would control CNN if Skydance wins?

The dow is currently up 7% over its 2024 high and its 2025 high was up 8.9% over its 2024 high. Under Biden, the 2024 high was 19.4% over the 2023 high. Maybe Wall Street's willingness to reward layoffs is waning?

Thanks for the " #winning " Mr. #Trump.

The #Democrats are the greatest marksmen in the world... when the target is their own feet. It's a surprise they're not hobbling on stumps.

You want to win votes? KEEP YOUR PROMISES and hold real primaries in 2028. No more annointing a standard-bearer in a back room then force feeding them to us.

TFW your CGM alarms because your blood sugar is < 70. You go for a second opinion with a finger stick because you just finished breakfast, but the battery on your manual glucometer is too low, so you spend crucial minutes fighting anti-theft packaging to get a new one.

My question is how can indie authors get 3 copies on those shelves in the first place?

I've gone all-in on being an independent novelist, relaunching my first novel in January and launching my second in July.

But the marketing plan is 100% direct-to-consumer. Brick and mortar placements are HARD.
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

I can’t remember the year, but probably Jr. High (now called “Middle School”), but a male teacher — unfortunately can’t remember his name — read us ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ (by Alexander Dumas, released in chapters from 1844 to 1846). He did it yearly. Took all semester, as I recall. Mr. Jensen?
