My job is teaching people how to act out things other people have written, write things for other people to act out, or tell people how to act out things that other people have written. (Also, how to talk and write about movies.)
I guess Columbia University can go back to being called King's College.

Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein IS the monster. Insight is knowing that YOU'RE the monster.

I'm surprised more people haven't noticed that "Anora" is the film that "Pretty Woman" was originally supposed to be. (And the comparisons run even deeper when you tie in the final scene of "The Florida Project.") #anora

You know what would be great? If, on Sunday night, every Oscar recipient, instead of making a speech, simply said, "I stand with Ukraine."

The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour’d, and unsung.

This is an article I wrote a few years ago, the implications of which grow increasingly frightening. While it doesn't attempt to explain the entirety of our current political insanity, it speaks to an important part of it that might be worth examining more closely.

Credit where credit is due: I agree with Trump's call to eliminate the penny. It's a mind-bogglingly stupid and wasteful relic of an earlier economic age. Just as a broken clock is right two times a day, even a babbling, narcissistic fascist will occasionally make a good call.

I'm almost convinced that the only point of the proposed tariffs on Mexico is to stick it to woke, liberal city dwellers by making avocado toast more expensive.

I first watched #Interstellar when Milo (our eldest) was a baby. I watched it again last night. It's still abundantly flawed (I can't help rolling my eyes when Anne Hathaway talks about love being a power from another dimension)... but boy, that movie hits different after 10 years of parenting.

In 1979, Jimmy Carter (RIP) had solar panels installed at the White House.

After his inauguration in 1981, Ronald Reagan had the panels permanently removed.

I feel like this says so much about our nation's trajectory over the last several decades.

When they talk about privatizing Veterans’ care and Medicare, they mean allowing companies to provide healthcare for a profit.

But how do companies make those profits? By *denying* care to many who need it.

Don’t get fooled by the “privatization” label. It means “for profit” and YOU are the cost.
