The entire series I'm writing, "The Cycles of Revelation," would best fit as an action adventure game. "The Medellan Conspiracy," the second story in the series, would lean a bit more into a mystery adventure game than the first novel, "Artifact of the Dawn," does.

This really isn't one I can do. I love and support folks who perform Drag, but I don't know enough about Drag culture to come up with names for characters who were raised in a medieval setting and are currently fighting for their lives and the lives of everyone on their homeworld.

After all the strange adventures they've had, going from living with medieval level of technology, to getting routinely transported aboard a space cruiser in orbit, they'd take seeing it in stride.

As for performing, Jevan would be more likely to than Ardyn. He's more gregarious.

"The Medellan Conspiracy" has two MCs. Ardyn is (hopefully) more relatable to the neurodivergent community (I know, how unoriginal, making the ND character an alien, but he reflects how I've always seen myself). Jevan is a dashing charmer, and I hope some readers also relate to him.

My MCs are binary, and it doesn't. When I began writing this series in 2015, I was unaware of non-binary people. That being said, I have always used the singular they/them when referring to unnamed background characters and there will be non-binary representation in a future novel.

The word "gender" appears nowhere in my manuscript. Even the concept of gender isn't discussed in the novel, as it's not relevant to the plot. There are also no clear gender roles, except females of either species must become pregnant if they want a child (is that even a gender role?)

My two MCs are both male. Ardyn was an Athla'naa ranger, and Jevan was a Medellan trader. If they were both female, they may have never met.

In Ardyn's society, he would have been expected to have at least one child, and likely wouldn't have been a ranger or found the artifact. 1/2

Yes, early in "The Medellan Conspiracy," there is a flashback scene of when Jevan and Ardyn first arrived in the city of Donarvon. Here's the opening of that scene. (Since this is out of context, cycles of the moons = months, and cycles of the sun = days. Their planet has 2 moons).

Well, Jevan and Ardyn aren't on Earth, so that's complicated. They leave their home planet at the end of "The Medellan Conspiracy," (not a spoiler, this was the plan since the end of "Artifact of the Dawn") so what better way than to attend their friends' pair-bonding ceremony?
