The Pro Skater games shaped a generation's music taste, but they were even more transformative for the bands on the soundtracks.

I spoke to Less Than Jake, The Ataris, Drain, AFI, The 900 and Tony Hawk himself about how Pro Skaters' killer soundtracks changed their lives

PokéPark Kanto swaps roller-coaster thrills for a David Attenborough-esque wander through Pokémon habitats - and it's all the better for it.

In a sentence that would blow tiny Tom's mind, I was the first Englishmen to visit Pokémon's inaugural theme park, PokéPark Kanto.

You can check out my thoughts on the park over on The Guardian very soon...

After being pretty underwhelmed by last year's Requiem demo, I'm happy to say that this final preview completely won me over.

Its cathartic blend of Leon-driven action and tense Grace-led scares truly delivers the best of both. My thoughts for @gamespot.com

I was having an extremely bad time last year. I started experiencing excruciating pain in my right arm, pain that lasted for months (it's ongoing now). When Hollow Knight Silksong came out, I didn't know if I'd even be able to play it. On Silksong and suffering: www.theguardian.com/games/2026/j...
Four months and 40 hours later: my epic battle with 2025’s most difficult video game
When Hollow Knight: Silksong came out last summer I was in so much pain that I didn’t know if I’d be able to play it. Could a video game teach me anything new about suffering?

I saw Twinless the other day & thoroughly enjoyed its legitimate gaming references.

From lengthy jokes about how The Sims works, to characters playing It Takes Two,it looks like we're finally past film scenes where people hold controllers upside down.

All hail the era of millenial screenwriters.

Yesterday I walked down an alleyway and saw a crow pulling the entrails out of a rat, today I waited at a bus stop where a frozen fox corpse lay next to a bin under a cardboard box.

Taking these as great omens for the year of our lord, 2026 ✨

Totally missed this going live as it went up on Christmas day but was happy to gush about two of my favourite games of the year for The Guardian - FF:Tactics and Absolum - alongside a bunch of other great writers.

A really good list of (largely) non AAA bangers

Shocked to hear about the death of Vince Zampella. We only spoke a couple of months ago and he clearly had big plans for the future.

He was a truly larger than life character, a man who transformed the multiplayer shooter into a pop culture phenomenon.

Rest in power, Vince.
"The only reason Call Of Duty exists is because EA are dicks"

For GQ I spoke to FPS pioneer Vince Zampella, who revealed how Spielberg birthed the modern shooter, why now is Battlefield's time and which other famous Hollywood director almost made a COD movie.

I'm sat in party chats dreaming of new gun unlocks and scope upgrades like it's 2015.

Pokémon Legends ZA is shonky as, but it's got a lot of heart.

20 hours in and I'm a big fan of the battle system, the writing and the music, and I'm having a good enough time...

But I still can't help but imagine what ZA could have been if TPC actually gave GameFreak a real budget.
