Memories of Sir Thomas More’s ironic quip - in ‘A Man for All Seasons’ (1966) - to Richard Rich on being betrayed by him. Rich had been made Attorney General for Wales.

Sir Thomas More asks: “Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... but for Wales?".

Roots of the Venerable English College (VEC).

In 725, King Ine of Wessex founded an English Hospice for pilgrims close to St Peter’s Basilica.

In 1362, a group of traders founded a new English Hospice on its present site, Via di Monserrato.

In 1579, VEC was founded by Gregory XIII, as a seminary.

It is notable that Andrew has been arrested for "misconduct in public office", which is precisely what the US Supreme Court decided no American president can ever be charged with.
So SCOTUS, with its fabricated-out-of-thin-air immunity doctrine, has actually made American presidents less accountable than LITERAL royalty.
Breaking News: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested in Britain on suspicion of misconduct in public office over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, the BBC said.

Same for Fellowships in Philosophy at an Oxford college?
Remembering a passage from A.J. Ayer's memoirs about the accidental creation of a second Philosophy fellowship at an Oxford college. The incumbent announced he was applying for a Chair in Wales, so the college recruited a new Fellow. But no one considered that he might not actually get the Chair.
