Bookworm since way way before ebooks were invented. Addicted to c- and k-drama. Enjoys running with not-sharp objects but only in a straight line. She/her.
Another tyre fallen victim to potholes, at least I managed to stop off at a garage and put enough air in the tyre to get home. Hopefully I've not cracked the wheel like last time (different one). 💸

Quitting Twitter is the way.
Nazis bought the platform to rig the game.
Don't play it.

Chasing up payment for something I did last year and the response was 'oh, the cheque must have got lost in the post'. Cheque? What century are we in? 😲

At some point before the end of the year, I'll try and do a top 5 books and top 5 dramas (k- and c-) of 2025, as usual. Meanwhile, here's a rec outlier: the phenomenal Listers, about two brothers driving around the US after they get into competitive birdwatching. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl-w...

Been having a bit of a clear out, today's prize discovery was a half-eaten jar of homemade peach chutney dated 2014 lurking at the back of the pantry. 😂

As I plan my holidays for next year, I've been entertaining myself with various travel subs on Reddit. Poeple post itineraries, like the one with a day trip from London to Haworth (minimum 4 hours each way) where they want to visit the Parsonage and also walk on the moors *before lunch*. 🤣

Nothing says local power cut like the chirping of dozens of burglar alarms nearby. 😏

For some reason, after months of Isla by Beluga Lagoon being my earworm of (not) choice, my brain has now moved on to Where's Your Head At? by Basement Jaxx. 🙈

Currently in St Peter's, Barton-upon-Humber, which is normally closed, waiting for the Bella to be rung 😍

Unexpected hedgehog encounter just now. 🦔 Went to put food out as usual only to find a small one (mango sized, the others are more like pineapple sized adults) hanging about - definitely not one of the two I see regularly. Must be one of this year's babies...

Phone keeps bugging me to do a 66Mb update. My dude, I am on a boat in the Hebrides, I'm lucky if I can get 1 bar of 4G. ⛵

Musk has made clear he is not a ‘fit and proper’ person to be given a foothold in our essential services.

Giving him any influence in our energy market is a risk the UK can’t afford to take.

Many female athletes can make more money as a right-wing grifter complaining about trans women than she can as an athlete.

Therefore, trans women in sports greatly enhance the career prospects of mediocre cis women in sports.

Weird beeping noise in my house when I got back this evening, initially thought it was my smoke alarm but then realised it was a fledgling blackbird sitting on the arm of my sofa 🐦‍⬛ Eventually caught & put outside.

Having done all the paperwork over the past few months, the next milestone to pass is actually *getting* my pensions. Got my first tax code notice today, so that's something. First payment is due this weekend, the other one pays at the end of the month, so I guess we'll see... 🤞💸

🦔 stand off in my garden just now. I'd suspected that I had more than 1 but hadn't seen them at the same time before - lots of disgruntled huffing noises from the newcomer who then stomped off.

Just scheduled my out of office (basically "I've retired, email X instead"), now 5 💐 and plenty of chocolates in the house - work get together planned for Thursday so there may be more yet, also off to all-you-can-eat Indian buffet on Friday night. Feels a bit surreal at the moment!

Yesterday was my last official teaching day, now just paperwork left. Feels a bit unreal but 4 💐 in my house telling me we're nearly there...

Just when I thought I'd got away without changing my work laptop password before I leave, nope... must change it with a deadline of roughly 3 days to go! 🤣
