Dear Programmers.
We can solve the grandparent scam:
- Create an app,
- That grandparents can download,
- That allows for the exchange of at least voice and text,
- That isn't also a vector for spam (unlike cell/sms/email).
I'm at a loss to explain why it's impossible, in 2025, with cryptography.

I'm traveling with a laptop. I think all of the clothes on me are worth more than this laptop. I use it to connect to more powerful machines that I would never want to travel with. I'm in my happy place.

I used Claude to help me parse some dumb file format and I regret it so much. The weird assumptions baked in, in addition to the assumption that a byte is equal to a character, has me wishing I'd just bitten the dumb bullet and done a menial task. Claude only handles my JSON serialization now.
