Today we’re celebrating our favourite Antarctic co-workers. From curious onlookers near our research stations to the subjects of vital ecosystems studies, these charismatic birds are the true icons of Antarctica.

A driving force for change. This morning we met with Antarctic tour operators and scientists to discuss tourism to the continent and a potential framework for all Treaty Parties. Thank you to @hx-expeditions.bsky.social for hosting us and looking forward to continuing discussions 🐧

While #InternationalWomansDay falls on a weekend this year, we are committed to celebrating the success of women everyday! This year we celebrated Jane Rumble becoming our first female Commissioner of the Territory. We hope she is the first of many!

As we gain new followers we wanted to share details about ourselves through #FunFactFriday, the British Antarctic Territory is the largest and most southerly of the UK's 14 Overseas Territories. It was formed on 3 March 1962 and since 1989 it has been administered from London
