We're working on updating from Bend YIMBY to Central Oregon YIMBY. The new name works a lot better for someone from, say, Redmond, Madras or La Pine to turn up at their city council meeting.

We expect there may be a few hiccups, so please bear with us!

For YIMBYs, it’s all about building communities where more people can afford to live, stay, and thrive wherever they choose.

If you want to see more homes, more neighbors, and more opportunity in your backyard, join the movement.

KUOW story includes a quote that explains why @sightline.org has been working on HB 1443 to allow mobile dwellings on house lots:

"It is absolutely by far the least expensive, the easiest, the cheapest, and the quickest form of housing possible in the United States."

The non-Hispanic white population of Minneapolis was 403k in 1970 (out of 434k).

Today it's about 250k (out of 430k).

Imagine the decay, vacant lots and empty storefronts, if people hadn't immigrated, while suburbanization continued apace anyway.

I'm supposed to resent this? Immigrants saved us.

WA's mobile dwellings bill is in play again.

MDUs are low-cost, quick-to-install homes suit the needs of all kinds of people, but zoning bans them from everywhere except mobile home parks.

HB 1443 would allow a homeowner to put one in their backyard.

Homes on wheels are a lifeline for families, but zoning codes are still trying to keep them out.

Filtering is real. We’re seeing it happen in real time in places that have prioritized home building of all types. It is important to note that rents typically are slow to follow so usually the first place we see results is in slowing rent increases.

We're new here but we're veterans of the housing advocacy scene. We will advocate for all shapes and sizes of housing here in The Gorge--focusing on Hood River, Wasco, Skamania and Klickitat counties.
