Feel free to ask me questions about Virginia native plants!

I put a few pieces of native Sedum (Sedum ternatum) around these very large stepping stones a few years ago. They have filled in so nicely!

Looks like the large bullfrog I saw a month ago in my little pond is still around! Of course, I didn't label it, so I have no way of knowing if it is the same frog!

Dutchman's breeches (Dicentra cucullaria) is a real cutie! Just a few inches tall. Blooming today, will be dormant in early May. It's only above ground for about 2 months!

In 2021, I went out each Monday and recorded which natives were blooming in my yard. I created a bloom time spreadsheet which can be found here on Facebook. www.facebook.com/share/p/18hh...

Anyone know how to share a file here on BlueSky?

I divided my bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) last summer while it was dormant. The dense flowers are the original area, the other photos are new areas!

So many exciting plants today! This is Aromatic Sumac (Rhus aromatica). The straight species is tall (6-12'). There is also a popular cultivar called Gro-Low (not as desirable for wildlife as a straight species) that stays very short - about 1.5-2' for me.
