I really *love* when we get these conjunctions!

Depth is hard to perceive when looking into the cosmos, but images like this give us an idea.

Comet - our Solar System
Stars - further out, but our Galaxy
Galaxy - very far away with a void between

Looking across space & time!

Our whole economic system also depends on a 5% unemployment rate.

The least we could do is pay them properly!
I really wish more people would read this.

Australia's unemployment benefits are the lowest in the OECD.

The government claims that this is to encourage people to get a job and lowers unemployment.

Studies have shown that this is bullshit (quelle surprise)

The digital equivalent of pulling down perfectly good buildings, and replacing them with bigger, uglier, expensive new buildings.

Who benefits?

The developers.

A lot of people profit, at great public expense & inconvenience.

I saw this often when I worked the nightshift in the CBD where businesses refused to serve the homeless who had money to pay for the food they wanted because capitalists believe even taking money from homeless encourages homelessness.

Even if it was worth it (which it isn't), they're probably not going to give them to us.

And, if they do, it will just make Australia the South Pacific submarine port for America.

Just discovered $3 billion in extra nuclear sub spending between May and December $15.4B → $18.6B

Where's the $3 billion going? Defence: "Take it on notice"

That's enough money to build 10,000s public homes but for Defence it's pocket change they lost down back of the couch.

The daft thing is that with Proportional Representation there'd be no need for this self-destructive war within Labour. It could split into its component parts - left and right - and people could vote for what they wanted. It's only First-Past-the-Post that forces these irreconcilables together.

Winter’s survival mode drains a lot of energy.
Voltage drops and constant power cuts wear out the meter. I have to choose what to charge in the rare hours of electricity.
Finally found someone to fix the windows, the drafts make the flat even colder.

Spring, we need you.
