🇨🇳 China installed 464 GW of solar capacity in the 12 months to June☀️

That's more than the total EU solar capacity as of 2024 (338 GW) and DOUBLE the total US solar capacity (229 GW).

We’re handing out information on #NipponSteel’s climate challenge to investors in Yotsuya today!

Its U. S. Steel deal is done, it now has a BIG coal problem, and an even bigger responsibility to phase out coal and get to near-zero steel.

#ShowUsWhatYoureMadeOf @nipponsteel.bsky.social!

In 2024, #ArcelorMittal invested 4.4 billion USD in capex & 1.3 billion USD in “strategic growth”, but only 0.3 billion USD, less than 7% of the capex, went to investment in decarbonisation 🤯This is according to its very own 2024 Q4 earnings release.

Steel decarb is a key #climate challenge, and work is starting to ramp up to accelerate emissions cuts in the industry.

Give @steelwatch.bsky.social a follow and help us get #coal out of steel production!
Hi Bluesky 👋 We’re SteelWatch, an international organisation pushing for serious #ClimateAction in the #SteelIndustry.

Producing steel creates 11% of global CO2 emissions each year, mainly because most of it is made with coal.

In Europe, some countries have a much stronger potential for green hydrogen production and green hydrogen-based direct reduction of iron (H2-DRI) than others. A truly European approach would recognise this.

80% of Australia’s gas is exported. They are draining the system to the point we need to start importing gas, and they price gouge us for the remaining 20%.

I had my book proofread by a person rather than a glorified spreadsheet and the function they performed is **exactly** what LLMs are fundamentally catastrophic at: checking facts, teasing out the logic of arguments, and being able to predict when different audiences wouldn't be able to get my points
It seems their "disruption" is just trying to speed up self-publishing (in a way that won't work well, and of course, they don't want to call it that - and also, screw the book cover artists, translators etc because obviously there is no human skill in that 🤦)
