Arizona Supreme Court recently heard oral argument in a case in which the appellants seek statewide retention elections for judges of the court of appeals (COA). Currently, retention elections for COA judges are within the counties that make up the COA division for the judge.

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit from a right-wing group challenging Wisconsin's exemption from providing full access to its voter rolls under federal law. The judge said the group's claim "is not supported by law or logic."

The Judicial Nominating Commission met today and whittled the field of applications from 17 to 8 (6 Dems and 2 Independents). This means the largest slate the Commission can send to the Governor is 5--3 Dem and 2 Ind.
