Today I've finally deleted all Adobe (bar acrobat reader) from my personal and work machine.

For now I've moved to free or outright owned software alternatives.

Next on my chopping block is Autodesk!

The characters in this film have zero impact on the outcomes. It honestly felt like each scene was written by a different writers who just 'yes and'd themselves through the dialogue and action.

100% go see it at the cinema but it's 180mil utter dumpster fire.

The world is still run on Cold War logic, binaries, proxy wars, regime control. It breeds the next generation of fighters, not peace.

Until that worldview is gone, we’ll keep repeating the same cycle of resentment, violence, and failure.

I think we'll find this is true of a lot of areas of the UK. Under investment over the past 30 years in infrastructure now being used as an excuse to delay or stop new homes.

Labour needs to do a 'renew British infrastructure' grant program for councils.

We need a realistic accounting to make sure that simply standing up a new modern plant wouldn't be a better use of taxpayer money instead of helping this 1900s tech limp along.

I get the jobs, but if forges can't produce steel we need a serious chat about how much the taxpayer is about to spend.
Reynolds refuses to say if British Steel furnaces in Scunthorpe can keep running
The government took control of the steelworks to prevent Chinese owners Jingye shutting down production.

I periodically check Fox News and Sky News to see what's leading.

If Fox is your main news source, you're not living in the same reality as the rest of us. Seriously, take a look.

The top stories show what a big chunk of the US right is told to really worried about. It’s honestly mind-melting.

Yes, the tariffs will screw up the global economy. But what’s not being talked about is the instability this will create.

These conditions allow terrorism and corruption to flourish. This endangers everyone including us.

President Trump’s most recent levies are hitting some of the world’s poorest nations the hardest.

The 50% trade tariff on Lesotho, the highest levy on Trump’s list, could kill entire industries in the country, Thabo Qhesi, an independent economic analyst, tells Reuters. nbcnews.to/4iiYc0p

Spring Statement, not about benefits: the civil service needs reform, and has for a long time.

That means job changes, digitisation, and layoffs.

The left should embrace this and help build a fairer, more inclusive system not just defend the status quo.

This is a chance to fix what is broken.

Over 40 years, right-leaning governments have dominated globally. From Reagan & Thatcher’s neoliberal revolution to Merkel & Modi, conservative policies have shaped economies. Even left-wing leaders like Blair & Clinton embraced free markets rather than challenging them.

Previous generations still playing Risk with global stability while 40-somethings just want healthcare, a livable planet and a decent sandwich. Tax the rich, nationalise essentials and maybe take the old dudes’ hands off the big red button.

At this point most hotels have priced themselves out of the breakfast market.

I'm not paying £20-30 for a medicore buffet, with bad instant coffee and orange concentrate.

@heathrow.com I get it's out of sight from the ground but doesn't fill me with confidence you have a solid maintenance schedule as that doesn't look like its been cleaned.. ever.

Yay! Very proud of everyone in the cast and crew, as well as my team in VFX that pulled off an amazing season of tv.

Currently having to explain to younger colleagues that Tiktok isn't unique, it isn't the first social platform, and it will be replaced by something in the medium term.

I get that people make their living via it, but the smart ones know not to rely on a single platform, lesson learned.

1/ Every time I see "home solar isn't worth it," it’s about selling power back to the grid. Let’s be clear: this is the worst version of solar, a myth sold by energy companies. Solar’s real power? Independence—not income.

Stop letting capitalism make decisions for you.

Watching the meltdown that is Elon vs MAGA is so satisfying.

The only thing that will be sweeter is when Elon comes crawling back to the left-leaning side of politics chasing support, and getting denied.

Elon discovering he picked the moronic side *chefs kiss* end of 2024.

The Film/TV industry has been very hit and miss. I was very luck to have had Interview With the Vampire S2 roll into 2024 and keep me busy till May.

Starting Oct I've been on/off freelance for Studio Lambert/Netflix project. I hope 2025 is much kinder to all.

Oh look the Elon fanbois out here celebrating his push to create a Company town at starbase.

Elon is speedrunning the Robber Baron playbook in and moving forward he'll have little regulatory barriers to stop him.

1/ What we need as a society is grand goals. Right now government policies are mitigating problems rather than pushing towards socially transformative targets.

Here’s my yardstick:
Aim to build a society where no one has to worry about health, education, or the basic necessities needed to survive.

I view the 'office christmas party' these days as just a 100% guaranteed way of catching Covid/Flu right before your holidays.

Nothing says ruin your break like illness.

For those that don't realise it - EVs are NOT the answer. Mass Transportation, Walkable towns/cities is.

Car companies want to keep selling you personal transport because that is their business so they'll pivot to less climate destroying version as long as you keep buying.
December 11, 2024 at 10:25 PM
Just an observation - local news websites are so full of banner ads and side ads, and popups these days that the 3 paragraph story is 10miles long an unreadable.

Could it be that in trying to fund local news you're putting off readers who can't actually see the news you're reporting.

WTF is going on at BBC News - why are the first two stories about something that is so completely and utterly irrelevant to anyone.

It's not even a Left/Right thing - this is a joke of a new front page and everyone at BBC news should be ashamed.
December 2, 2024 at 12:08 PM
On platforms rich in progressive thought, Left-leaning ideas often get caught up in pursuing perfection over practicality.

Expecting any action, law, or ideal to have no negative effects on anyone is unrealistic, fostering division that the Right exploits without regard for damage.

After the vote on Friday and hearing the concerns from many people I don't believe I have to say this but.

If your family, or a family member, OR Doctor are using coercion to push you to committing suicide there are already MANY laws that this falls under and you should report them to the police.
