The famous advice for women given by Constance Markievicz was, "dress suitably in short shirts and strong boots, leave your jewels and gold wands in the bank and buy a revolver".

#OTD 1927 she was buried in #GlasnevinCemetery alongside many of her comrades.

“Down with this sort of thing.”

Today we remember one of Ireland's comedy greats, Dermot Morgan, who continues to make us laugh years later as the star of Father Ted.

His cremation service was held in Glasnevin Cemetery #OnThisDay in 1998, prior to burial at Deansgrange.

Today, we remember Grace Gifford Plunkett (b. #OTD 1888). Following the execution of her husband Joseph Plunkett in 1916, she became an activist, and used her skills as an artist to oppose British rule, and later, the Anglo-Irish Treaty. She is buried in #GlasnevinCemetery.
