This gorgeous praying mantis lives in our herb garden. They seem to gravitate towards us; this one arrived here by hitching a ride on my unsuspecting husband's shirt.

A "True Inspiration" rose from the True Bloom Collection bred by Altman Plants. This repeat bloomer produces medium pink 4" flowers with 50+ petals and a peppery fragrance.

Our Anise Hyssop is blooming; the whole plant is covered in spiky purple flowers. Pollinators love her, as do I - I cannot imagine my garden without her.

She is a medicinal and culinary herb in the mint family, and her serrated green leaves do indeed look like spearmint leaves. Anise Hyssop is a perennial in zones 3 through 8. I grow Julia Child roses in memory of my Father who taught me recipes from 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' when I was a kid. I certainly haven't mastered French cuisine but those lessons changed my life.

I spotted this Eastern Phantom Crane Fly in our garden last May; she was on the underside of a yarrow leaf. I was thrilled to capture this photo because I rarely see these beauties in person.

This was my 1st year growing #MetallicaTomatoes from the #DwarfTomatoProject. They grow approx 3ft tall but produce like larger cultivars.

Metallica is a pink and green striped tomato, 4-16 oz, tangy-slightly sweet. 🍽️

I planted several "Blue My Mind" dwarf morning glories during the spring; once they started blooming they never stopped. Now at September's end they are still gorgeous.

My Stock flowers surprised me by blooming in a high-90s heatwave in July; they're usually done once spring temps hit the mid-70s. These highly fragranced blooms are pollinator magnets and are edible for humans.
