Human doing her best in the Pacific NW.
If these Dems do vote yes tonight they have wasted everyone‘s time, conceded Dem blame for the shutdown, & shown no regard for millions Americans are now facing unaffordable raises to their insurance. The fact Kelly, Osoff, & Baldwin are on this list is shocking. I thought they were better than this

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

It’s not. Actually it’s even worse: 50 year mortgages give the false promise of owning something, amassing wealth for your family when all you’re doing is renting from the bank while covering all the costs of homeownership.

50 year mortgages are just indentured servitude. Their introduction will make homes even more unaffordable: prices will rise because of the promise of a reduced payment…even if it is only a few hundred dollars.
Who benefits from 50 year mortgages: banks, developers, realtors, estate lawyers.

Who gets screwed: everyone else.

Hi! Many things are bad you can still have a great day. Try to plan something fun offline like a walk outside, picking up a favorite pastry, going to a local farmer's market or a nap. You still deserve joy and time to rest and recover.

This is foul. The cruelty is the point. And also this all happening the week they announce reduction in the cost of GLP1s through TrumpRX. It’s all a cruel con intended to enrich the wealthy and punish the people Yam Tits hates the most: the poor and not physically pleasing (ironic, I know).
“.. The Agriculture Department issued the command in a late-night Saturday memo .. That guidance threatened to impose financial penalties on states that did not “comply” quickly with the government’s new orders.”

This is a pretty important point!
The correct way to connect the authoritarian presence in LA and the Big Beautiful Bill is that the bill gives the government the resources to do this in dozens of cities at once. So if you don't like what's happening in LA, it's coming to your town if the bill passes.

Of course the LA Times makes it look like a full on riot instead of showing that the mostly peaceful protesters were literally and constantly assaulted by ICE agents. The majority of fires that were started weren’t by the public but by ICE firing into the crowds and canisters starting fires. 🧵

Your safety is the top priority. Peaceful protesters have already been harmed for doing nothing. The story they’re selling isn’t legit. Please film everything, document everything.

Every American—esp business owners—should be worried about cuts to Medicaid. They hurt the most vulnerable and will drive up hospital and insurance costs exponentially. My company proudly provides good insurance as a benefit to employees. I’m preparing for a 30%+ hike to premiums next year.

This George Carlin quote explains why R's want to end public education and reinstate child labor.

Before today, I was never ashamed to be an American. We should be so lucky to have a leader with half as much courage as President Zelenskyy. I hope all of western Europe, Canada, and Mexico rallies around them against Russia and…us. Talk about being on the wrong side of history.
