This loss hits so hard. He was a welcome invader of my subconscious, and depicted “dream logic” so accurately.
David Lynch’s steadfastness in refusing to explain his films reminded me that art does not have to justify itself. It can be enigmatic, and doesn’t owe anyone anything. He was an inspiring presence in the world, and will be missed so very much.
