nwsl owners do not want to have the best league in the world, they want widespread mediocrity that they can position as 'parity' and 'the most competitive league.' it's literally the nfl model attempted in a sport with a global market that can and will leave the nwsl behind.

ofc i’m team no cap but the thing that infuriates me is that even a bump to $5m, 7 or 10 would be enough. like ok if you’re worried about parity because you know you still have broke bois, they can handle $10m. keeping it below $4m, in this era, is telling many of your best players to leave.

Washington Spirit dominate semifinal match against Portland Thorns in 2-0 win
For the third time in five seasons, Washington Spirit are headed to the NWSL Championship. Even better, they made getting there look so damn fun in Saturday's 2-0 match against the Portland Thorns. Throughout the match, the Spirit played with joy and confidence, stringing together attack after attack and quickly regaining the ball on Portland possessions. They outshot their opponents 10 to two in the first half, and the combination of Hal Hershfelt, Leicy Santos, and Croix Bethune was able to manage the formidable Thorns midfield, while the Spirit's dominance on the wings left Portland's wingers uncertain.
