Have some basic human empathy and let those celebrating the release of the unjustly detained, the reuniting of families, the hopes of return, and the end of a brutal regime do so in peace.

A privilege for all of us Syrians in diaspora to keep up with the news - my mum’s family in #Damascus can only hear gunshots at 7am in winter and cant keep up with the news because there’s no electricity since yesterday. I hope this free Syria can provide its people with basic needs for the future.

Syria has been forgotten from the headlines for so long - Syria fatigue is real. People aren’t dying from warfare, but from hunger, the lack of water & electricity. It’s long overdue for some proper change. I just hope that Syria is truly free for ALL of its people.

I’ve had the same birthday wish for 13 years now, for the war to end in my home country of #Syria, so I can go back and meet my cousins for the first time, hug my uncle, and see my friends. I didn’t think this would happen in my lifetime. I hope this is a step in the right direction for my country.
