This afternoon, I saw what I thought was a log on the ice until it turned its head and I saw the beak. I believe it is a Wilson's Snipe. It was there long enough for me to worry. It finally stood and my brief heavy heart lifted. it strutted away happily!

Two winters ago I posted some pics of this creation. Last winter I don't think it was cold long enough for it to build. I went to see it today and had to share. It will take until May to melt!

Last night left just enough snow to make it pretty. It drew dozens of Dark-eyed Juncos to play kick the snow and leaves in search of food this morning. This one played hide and seek and wouldn't take that next step to be in full view.
