Not sure why everyone is making such a big deal about AI, when you have access to this comprehensive resource

It is with sadness that I report that I’ve become one of those “lots of tabs open in my browser” people

The new "Tron: Ares" movie is surprisingly good. Saw it in the theater because I read that the visuals were good, but the story was really great too. I was pleasantly surprised.

“Allow Solitaire.exe to find and locate devices on this network?”

Sure, why not.

Information has been widely available in books for centuries. Professors aren’t a replacement for books, and so this analysis of AI’s role for higher education is flawed

I’m letting Claude pipe the output of an awk script it wrote to “xargs kill -9”

I’m sure that’s fine, right?

I’m not, but I wish I was! An article like this would have been a real accomplishment for a 10 year old.

I think my biggest accomplishment that year was probably beating Zelda 2 on the NES if I recall correctly.

There is a Pumpkin Beer festival in Seattle, featuring 60 pumpkin beers on tap. That is a shocking variety of pumpkin beers! 🎃🍺🎃🍺

Very proud of my student Amanda Tomlinson, who just successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation: "Leveraging the Variability of Computing Resources and Renewable Energy to Lower the Carbon Footprint of Computing." Congrats Amanda!

I got to see the new UCSD CSE machine room. The approach to cooling is dramatically different than the older machine room, with a focus on in-rack heat exchanging into liquid which is pumped out of the room. It's pretty neat, and quite impressive!

"Variables" are by default immutable. But... the word variable means mutable??

I still can't get my computer to stop autocorecting Sigcomm to Sitcom, and I've decided to just run with it. Might add a laugh track and funny opening credit sequence to the opening session this year!

I'm excited to share that I'm going to be joining Amazon AWS in Seattle! I'll be working within the S3 storage team on some really exciting engineering challenges. It's an incredible opportunity and one that I’m genuinely thrilled about. Monica and I are also excited to explore the PNW!

Idea: "Typewriter as a service". You upload a document to a cloud service, and select which vintage typewriter you want, and it types out your document and mails it to you on whatever paper you select. Working on the REST API right now.
