I'm sure that there are people who voted for him for president more than once who are now deeply regretful about the situation they helped create, and I can only say that I have not the slightest iota of a smidge of a skosh of compassion for them.

Finally decided that I need to get my own ISBNs instead of using the free ones (KDP, IS, D2D, etc).

Gonna have to save up, but I hope it'll be worth it.

Finding your work on a 🏴‍☠️ site must be some kind of author milestone, right? Do I get a badge?

Someone asked what "non-transactional networking" is and this is my answer. It has worked for me in building long-term relationships, along with regular mentoring and volunteering. And when I do make a request, other people want to help me (more often than not) because by then I'm someone they know.
1) You meet people
2) You figure out what you have in common (especially if they're not directly in your field) and decide to stay in touch
3) You find out something that can help them, is in their interests and/or makes them laugh and send it
4) You don't expect something immediately in return

Best: Don't worry if your first draft is kind of a mess. The first draft is you telling the story to yourself. Subsequent drafts are you preparing to tell the story to others.

Worst: You must write every day. No, you don't. Sometimes you have to let your brain rest and recharge.
Academics, as we're at the start of a new fall semester - what's your favorite piece of writing-productivity advice *that has actually worked for you*?

(Or, if you prefer, what's the worst, least-useful piece of writing advice you've received?)

By contrast the Mirror Universe version of Starfleet, the tip of the spear for the Terran Empire, salutes emphatically and often. Hierarchy and dominance are all-important.
Not that I want to have a tired boring n trite argument about a fictional entity when we're really arguing about aspects of real life humanity but here's one reason one indefensible reason why Starfleet is not a military

Starfleet doesn't salute

writing is so funny it’s like “this is my favorite thing to do in the world and my dream” “okay then do it right now” “no thanks I would rather do literally anything else”
