Just treated myself to a couple of books for my kobo. One has 272 pages, the other 2269, and I’m still not sure which one to start with

Honestly, my local @cineworld.bsky.social playing trailers for movies it knows it’s not going to show feels like a slap in the face.

@cineworld.bsky.social The Phoenician Scheme & Clown in a Cornfield. These can’t be booked for Ely but can for my next closest cinema 40 minutes away. Does that mean they’re not going to be showing at all in Ely?? It’s not good enough to omit some films when the only other option is miles away.

For me, movie trailers have become a hindrance to a good cinema experience. They just don’t seem to be well made anymore. BUT the 28yrs Later trailer is incredible. The use of that specific recording of the Rudyard Kipling poem makes it frankly terrifying.

Okay actually that long top-down crane shot in John Wick 4 is legit one of the best gun fight sequences in cinema

I haven’t actually finished John Wick 4 yet, but I have already looked for a video to on YouTube that is going to explain to me the whole convoluted universe to watch afterwards

The villains in John Wick, by the 4th one, are on Dick Tracey levels of silliness.

Remember when it was about a dog and Theon Greyjoy?

I’ve just watched all 4 John Wick movies in a week. I can’t decide if the franchise knows how silly it is. Every new film is a new level of ‘the table’ and a new silly contrivance.

Dope af though

Patriotism isn't being proud of your country no matter what. If the government are clearly shitting the bed it's patriotic to want them to do better. You don't have to love Britain unconditionally, it's a country not a son.

One of my favourite millennial hobbies is buying a lottery ticket, browsing Rightmove sorted by most expensive, picking my favourite then seeing what Deliveroo food I can get there

I absolutely love The Apprentice and can’t wait for the new series next week… but what the fuck is that trailer?? It honestly makes it look worse

Started watching Silo and it’s great 3 episodes in. My only complaint is that I need to watch it at night in the pitch black otherwise I can’t see anything. This inevitably leads me to fall asleep before the opening credits have ended

Each chapter of Pillars of the Earth should be named “What Fresh Hell is This?”

It’s #thetraitors day again. Finally!

I am really enjoying how I’ll finish one part of Pillars of the Earth and the next one starts, like, 7 years later. Can #booksky recommend other books which span a big time period? Historical Fiction preferred but not essential.

I binge watched the entirety of Succession over, like, 4 days and now I don’t know what to do without it

As I’m reading Pillars of the Earth i have cast @nickofferman.bsky.social in my head as Tom Builder and I think it fits perfectly

We need to get Yin back in #traitors. She was going to be fantastic

My only 2025 goal is to finish Pillars of the Earth. It’s a great book, not a particularly difficult read, it’s just So. Much. Intrigue. Its political machinations overload!

My boy is obsessed with The Lion King at the moment so I’ve watched it a lot now. I never noticed the classism of it all. Like, of course the Lions are spouting this ‘circle of life’ dogma, they’re at the top of the food chain, they have nothing to fear. 1/3

Succession should be taught in every screenwriting course going. It’s a perfect example of making your characters so vivid that all you have to do is throw situations at them and their behaviour writes itself.

The lift shaft set piece in Romulus is exquisite. It’s hard to make an original gravity gimmick in sci-fi but it gets nailed in this
