Excellent thread on what data is/isnt, esp when it gets to the point that data is the deliberate observation and recording of an ‘event’ with all the baggage that entails
Data is never ‘collected’, it is only *generated*.
This isn’t merely a pedantic semantic gripe; by misrepresenting ‘data’ as something that exists in nature & has only to be scooped up, evasion of accountability for data harms has already begun

I'm thinking about doing security training for at-risk groups. It's not just about a suite of tools, it's about how you model the networks you're in. All the tools in the world won't help if you don't understand what they're doing. Anyway, I need to find the people I can help.
