I work as a software engineer but my heart lies with the arts! I'm exploring what it means to build ✨whimsical✨ technology that helps people.

Another great alternative in terms of font

I'm not so sure about this new font, but damn if it doesn't look good with the paper texture and the ink bleed effects!!!

I think I've perfected the ink on paper look of the title! The title uses an svg filter to introduce noise and changes in opacity to create an ink bleed effect.

Slowly working on the look of the page. I've been using gemini in VSCode for this almost exclusively, more like a micromanaging designer than a programmer.

Finally making some progress! My small baby step forward was changing the font! I learned about the failover fonts, web-safe fonts, and system-fonts. I haven't yet changed the failover fonts, but I do like the default font. It feels delightfully fancy.

This definitely has me feeling better about using Gemini and Copilot to work on my code! I'm not just accepting whatever it writes, I actually read it, question its reasoning if I know better, and ask questions if it's a new concept for me.
Vibe coding is irresponsibly building software through dice rolls, not caring what code is produced

What about when engineers at the top of their game use AI tools responsibly to accelerate their work?

I propose "vibe engineering"!

Vibe engineering
I feel like vibe coding is pretty well established now as covering the fast, loose and irresponsible way of building software with AI—entirely prompt-driven, and with no attention paid to …

Of course I need to change what the UI looks like, but not bad for a template considering how little time it took to implement.

And 2) if I wasn't a software engineer I probably would know that it's a bad idea to put your API key directly in the .js file that gets added to the public github repo.

I've started using AI tools for coding and I've found some interesting things. 1) Gemini doesn't know that its README links are not going to actually go anywhere (see image 1).
