I tend to be a real snob and stickler about issues of cinematography and form, and I thought WAKANDA FOREVER looked like dimly lit dogshit, but I cannot get on board with the idea I've been seeing bubble up that SINNERS is poorly shot. I think it looks mostly pretty great.

Like a lot of people, I found some of the stuff in last night's PITT kind of clumsy and corny. However, I also think corny clumsiness around social issues has been in the show's DNA from the jump, not a sign of its imminent decline.

Hearing word that Sam Raimi leveraged his clout from making a successful superhero movie to make a mean spirited genre film where he covers beautiful actors in goop and flies cameras toward their heads at high speeds. Attaboy, keep on keeping on.

Here’s my hot take on newly minted Best Picture nominee F1: it was totally fine. Slick, inoffensive popcorn entertainment. Doesn’t belong anywhere near the Oscars, but there have been worse nominees, this year included.
