I was given ms paint doodles to do both of these commissions. You don't need ANY drawing experience to convey a concept to an artist who is willing to work with you. Stick figures and crude doodles are awesome. Just communicate.

Whenever I commission an artist, if I can't find reference poses for them, I do up a thumbnail for them to follow. I can't draw to save my life, but I would rather show them something bad than generate an image.

People don't write up or sketch out an idea because it won't "look good". They want to save themselves from the vulnerability of presenting something they aren't skilled in.
I think it's important to do scary things.
