She's really frustrated with how Bentley has framed this as pro-life/prop-choice. As someone with 4 kids and 2 miscarriages, she's well aware of how human development works. She wants to teach HG&D, but without turning this into something dishonest or untrue about the bill.

Medical experts from all political parties have thoroughly debunked the video - it's nothing more than propaganda. The video would be shown before students have even learned basic anatomy and sex ed.

Also on the docket: a few bills that would strengthen transparency requirements for school boards.

Good morning folks! We are in Senate Education this morning; the committee has a packed agenda. The primary interest for us: HB1180, the Baby Olivia Act from Rep. Bentley. It would require public school students as young as 10 to view a medically inaccurate video about fetal gestation.

Sen. Kim Hammer is trying to destroy your right to propose ballot initiatives.

This morning, he filed a slate of bills that would functionally eliminate your ability to even hope to get something on the ballot.

This is worth pointing out: the Legislature has a narrow view of "transparency." It came up in the House committee hearing yesterday on SB3.

There's a provision in SB3 that would alter how alcohol licenses are distributed; a number of liquor store owners came to speak against that specific clause.
Joint Budget’s underway here in Little Rock. Senate convenes at 10:00a. House convenes at 1:30p. Committee schedule’s all over the place. Figure out when your favorite committee’s meeting at arkleg.state.ar.us.

It's the fourth week of the 2025 Regular Session.

How many times have you contacted your state lawmakers? Have you made plans to come to the Capitol (if such a trip is possible for you)?

Our local water utility says they pray we don’t run out of water overnight when folks drip their faucets.

This is the supply from which the prison intends to pull ~15,000,000 gallons/month.
