Are you looking to try a new TTRPG? Do you enjoy adventures with small heroes on big adventures? We are currently looking for testers for our next game, Cynder! This test mostly focuses on combat basics, teamwork, and different enemy types (additions in January). Reply or message if interested.

2025 marks 10 years writing and designing TTRPGs. It has been a truly remarkable experience looking back over the highs and lows, the lessons learned to get me where I am today. I am privileged to be able to keep making these books as an indie, and grateful to the team that made it all possible.

This was a big year for us. We published Galactic Anarchy! We crowdfunded AND published Orobos Championship Tournament with the help of the great OCT community! And last but not least, we made significant progress in pre-production for our next book, Cynder. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Happy Halloween! I hope you have a very spooky day, and do try to stay warm. :)

If I ever make an app or a website, I want it to be able to run on any toaster in the world so that people can actually use it. I'm talking playing Doom on a fast food menu or on an exercise bike kind of universal application. Like Flash, if it worked more often.

I'm considering making a discord channel for people who want to follow along with news on Cynder and our other books/projects at Lamplighter. That would involve more time investment and moderation, but it would be cool to have our resources all in one place for the community. 1/2

Setting the mood with music in your #RPG can really highlight those epic moments of peril and glory. #GMs, what music do you use at your gaming table? I have a healthy catalog of video game scores saved for more adventures and boss fights than I will probably ever get to use. :)

This weekend the combat tests in Cynder open for everyone to run at home unguided. We need more feedback and for that we need to make it easier for more people to get into the game. Come join us and give it a try! :)

Attacks in Cynder don't miss. They go straight to dealing damage, which in most cases is a simple ATK - DEF check. That makes combat fast and very dangerous when you don't have that much more MP than the monsters. Think ahead, work with your team, and knock out the bad guys before they do it to you.
October 24, 2025 at 3:51 AM
One of the design goals for Cynder #RPG was a game that you could actually finish. You sit down with your friends to play a few sessions with some long-term and short-term goals guiding you to your ultimate objective, something like a major dungeon looming in your plans.

Cynder uses morale points (MP) instead of hit points to reflect that not every battle is a fight to the death, and to encourage fighting through your mistakes. Dropping to zero MP means you are badly hurt, scared, or pushed to your limits, but you fight on! On your next turn you stand back up. 1/x

Cynder is our upcoming #TTRPG coming to #Kickstarter about small heroes on big adventures. You play as the classically smaller folks of fantasy RPGs exploring a dangerous new world and fighting fearsome monsters. We have been working on this a long time and will have more to share all month.

We are looking for play testers to gather feedback on our next tabletop #RPG. This test focuses solely on combat and uses a 5d6 dice recipe mechanic for actions with light grid-based tactics. Learning and playing through the test is expected to take less than 30min. Reply or message if interested.

Drove down by the protests in Nebraska today to wave and show some support to the folks taking time out of their day to exercise their civil liberties. Lots of folks turned out and the local paper even mentioned the protest this time. Everything was civil, and happy, and I am proud of my community.

Hey #RPG folks, what is your favorite unique/weird mechanic from a tabletop RPG? It could be playing method like using a 52 card deck instead of dice, resource management, rules at the table, etc. It may not work for all games, but for that one game it was perfect (or at least interesting).

Started with the #sketchrequest and then filled out the rest with #fanart of various shows and games. I like the Pomni in the center. It really ties the set together. Some of these outfits are really difficult to draw with references only from a certain perspective. Names in alt text.

Orobos is now available in single-page and 2-page spread formats. You can download both versions to use with your preferred gaming setup. Thanks for playing the game!
October 15, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Orobos is available as "pay what you want" to make the game available to all players regardless of their situation. That means free is an option. If you then choose to show us some monetary support later - awesome! Your support helps us continue to make cool things like art, books, and more games.

Making an RPG book takes a long time. Work on Orobos took about 2 years. Our team usually works on more than one project at once so that we can smoothly transition from one to the next. I am excited to announce our next book is called Cynder! It is a game about small heroes on big adventures.

To celebrate the release of Orobos Championship Tournament, I am taking #sketchrequest! Send me a picture of your #OC or #OCT character and I will do as many as I can to post later this week. I want to see the creativity of our community. :)

These last few months have been difficult and dark, and they do not seem to be getting better for the country. It is why we must remember to take care of each other, to laugh again, and to love unapologetically. If you cannot find the light, then be that light. Together. Take care, everyone.
